Prep the engine: Warm the engine to approximately 50°C (120°F), then turn off the ignition. Remove plastic engine covers, and cover sensitive electrical components (alternator, engine control module) with plastic sheeting to prevent water intrusion.
Dilute and apply: Mix the degreaser with water according to grease severity: use 1:1 for heavy caked-on grease, 1:4 for general cleaning. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and apply evenly to all greasy engine surfaces, ensuring full coverage.
Let it work: Allow the degreaser to penetrate and emulsify the grease for 2-5 minutes for light buildup, or 5-10 minutes for severely caked-on grease. For extremely heavy deposits, agitate with a stiff cleaning brush after the wait time.
Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the entire engine bay with low-pressure water, working from top to bottom to remove all loosened grease and degreaser residue.
For heavy parts cleaning: Soak disassembled engine parts or components in full-strength or diluted degreaser for 30 minutes, agitate with a brush, then rinse clean with water.
